i had it panicked like crazy over it, wouldnt tkae the anti biotics for it or anything till i had got a second opinion, talked to my friend who had it in both her pregnancies and with the second pregnancy more than once.

My other friend whos hubby is a chemist spoke to him and his advice was its more harmful to carry on with the infection than to take the anti biotics, mine cleared up within a week and absolutely nothing was mentioned about premature births.

When i spoke to the midwife she said it is much more common than you think and alot of pregnant woman get it

hope this settles your mind slightly

The risk to your pregnancy, although minimal, is greater if you do not treat. BV is quiet common, and often misdiagnosed as thrush until someone realises it's not responding to antifungal cream or bothers to send of a swab! X

Thank you ladies for your replies.i've got metronidazole 400mg one tablet twice a day.i guess i'm gonna take it and maybe then all the thrush will go away as well.if its safe like the doc said then i'd rather take it.but i also take fucidic acid for my eyes so will have to check girst if i can use both.xx

You can use canasten pessary for thrush, I did it worked a treat. Best to treat with anti biotics than carry on with the infection. .

ive tried the pessary for thrush twice. but doesnt seem to have cleared up. the steroids were giving me thrush but i have since come off them and still got it. when on steroids it wasnt a problem. it didnt irritate me in anyway but now it does. maybe ill go back to doctors and get it checked out too.
