Enjoyed our online chat group again today! Nice to have some laughs. I shared a resource for Bentonite edible clay to aid in digestive dysfunction. Would like to add to that ,this youtube by Dr Josh Axe, a functional medicine doctor who supports the rational for eating bentonite clay.

Thanks for posting this. At first I was a bit startled at the idea of consuming clay, then remembered as a child being dosed with ‘kaolin & morphine’, a clay based medicine which needed to be shaken before thickly poured into a spoon! There seem to be differences and similarities between kaolin and bentonite, but essentially they are in the same ball park. We just don’t get the morphine element these days, but 50 years ago I suspect things were less regulated...
Sounds really interesting. Will have to ask my physician before I try it as I am now Shielding from all infection. In hospital over the weekend treated with Intra venous steroids. Diagnosis was thyroid eye disease- an auto immune disease which was making my eyes swell and threatening to compress my left optic nerve. Had the treatment not worked they would have operated. Lots more steroids and immunosupressant therapy to come but my eyes are back in working order thankfully. Diagnosed a year ago with Graves' disease ( a kind of thryotoxicosis) this eye problem is a rare additional hazard. GP's missed it and treated me for allergies!
Worst outcome of three consecutive days in hospital for the infusions (as a day case) was that on the day of diagnosis (Friday) and 1st thing on Saturday I was passing loose stools at frequent intervals because I was so anxious. I took 1 loperamide 2mgs. on Saturday to settle things down and since then have produced one or two tiny offerings! (pebbles!)
Took my own food and Soya milk into hospital for lunch and drinks and today at home had a large breakfast of cereal, milled linseed ,blueberries, yogurt and soya milk followed by wholemeal toast. Success followed an hour later as my gut responded to a gastro colic reflex!
Hope this encourages others who have hospital appointments that there are ways of managing the PRD!! I had far too little to drink in hospital and will make sure I take a litre of water in with me next Monday when I have my next I .V infusion. They gave me two hot drinks in 5 hours and I had my own water (300 mls) Am sure that had I asked they would have given me a jug of water and extra hot drinks! Excellent care on the Eye hospital ward.
Love to all
Jude
PS as a nurse in the 60's and 70's we used to make kaolin poultices to treat wound infections and boils - the warm kaolin smelled delicious! it had to be gently heated in its pot and spooned out onto sterile gauze- it was quite a palaver to make but worked well.
interesting! do you think that would have a positive effect on psoriasis?
Not sure! We used to use UV light to treat psoriasis many years ago but I have no idea what is the current thinking. Long since retired!!!!
