Greetings all. BetterHealth4 Me here. I just wanted to pass on this information that I saw on FutureLearn, a free online course. I thought perhaps it would be of interest to both liver donors and recipients.

Here's the course outline: ONLINE COURSE

Liver Transplant: the Ins and Outs

Learn about the science behind having a liver transplant with this free online course from the Centre for Liver Research.

Perhaps with input from our group, they may put more information up about these online courses regarding organ transplants. Certainly a great way to get the information out there and help make people aware of organ transplants and donations. Yeah for FutureLearn. - JeanAngela.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did just sign up for the FREE option and look forward to seeing what they offer when the course starts on Nov 13th. And WOW, what a huge selection of other courses. Again from the recent TPS discussion on Education, the issue for patients may be not the availability of resources (there are so many!), but rather the promotion of those - thus my compliments on your posting of this one you made for us.

Wow so glad that this course has proven to be of interest to you. I was telling a friend, who's husband is a urologist about the course on liver transplants and hoping he will view it. He is a surgeon as well, so that would be great to get some feedback from a medical person. Think I will pass it on to our friend's daughter who is also a doctor. Good way for us to get the word out to more people about organ donor awareness. Thanks so for writing and letting me know you have found this online course program so awesome. BetterKidney4Me.

Yes, there are a number of really wonderful course on line that are free. I have found taking a course on Mindfulness For Wellbeing and Peak Performance informative and helpful.

There was a discussion going around how can patients obtain access to therapy resources and I have found this Mindfulness course a means of therapeutic awareness. I think there are ways out there for patients to help themselves through the good web site resources, as often our insurance companies do not provide the therapy to help find the skills we need to get us through our illnesses and then, those of us fortunate enough to receive a gift of life, to gain the ability to help us through the acceptance and responsibility for receiving such a gift of life.

Being ill and then getting well has an enormous impact on one's mental and, of course, physical well being, as well as those of our family members and caretakers. Receiving an organ transplant from either a living or deceased donor is overwhelming and perhaps these resources through the web can help us gain our bearings to navigate these physical and emotional elements.

How do you all feel about these issues?
