A perfect bittern Wallowa. As always you are genius at capturing the essence of your subject in a few strokes. Just as an aside, my home city has a district called Bitterne which I thought for years was named after the bird. But I discovered recently that it comes from two old English words, byht and ærn, meaning house by the river. A shame, as I'd always imagined it was once the haunt of the bittern!

It may be connected, as bitterns haunt the marshes along the rivers, and so... it is the bittern's haunt!
