I'm on Zoom twice a week with my 2 reading groups, my 2 U3A Coffee mornings are monthly
We used to have a family Zoom but now find it easier to have one on one on WhatsApp. Last Zoom gathering was a memorial for our neighbour who died recently
I've recently got involved with some zoom meetings for the first time. Sound quality was awful. I dont mind Skype.
Hi wiserlady, I’ve never used zoom, Skype and only been on FaceTime as I’ve been as someone else’s house. I don’t think I ever will. I’m pretty introverted so have deep connections with my chosen friends and love my own company. 😊
Yes we use zoom regularly.
My best friend and I have a weekly zoom get together it seems much more personal than just phoning. She had to shield so it was a way of us still feeling connected.
I also have a weekly zoom with some members of my book club when we read a short story and poem together.x
Not used Zoom, MS Teams for work, Skype or Facebook Messenger with the family. I have had to invest in dark curtains for the window otherwise I get a nasty glare on the screen and I am in shadow!
For some reason that I haven't figured out, I have a deep seated antipathy to these things. So, no, I haven't used them at all. The whole idea makes me shudder and I don't know why! 🤔🌸
I’d love to try and zoom, even if it’s just the once but I wouldn’t know where to start! I do regularly FaceTime my grandsons. I’m not technically minded!!! 🙃
My 3 youngest grandchildren facetime me. We have a zoom family quiz every Saturday .Back in March/April I would have facetime chats with different groups of friends. We then reverted to phonecalls as people felt very self conscious.
It has been a real learning curve.
My appointment with my consultant was also done by zoom which was absolutely fine. But still nothing like meeting people face to face.
i prefer phone calls but it doesnt suit me for people to just ring whenever they fancy as people who dont work always think people who work should just stop working when the phone rings - as if we are at their beck and call... even my clients have to arrange a day and time to ring me - I never answer the phone at all if someone has not arranged to ring me then. I also find with zoom that if there are a handful of people and one is doing most of the talking you are looking at bored faces most of the time. I think the appointment with consultant thing is how it will stay in the future.
I know someone who is high up in the NHS, it is much quicker and cheaper for them to do consultations that way and often better for the patient who may have problems with travelling or waiting around to be seen... especially if they work.
We zoom our family once a week and I zoom my brother every evening because he is on his own. We are researching our family history so always have plenty to talk about and if we have time we do a general knowledge crossword. We are usually on for 2 hours.
wow. we zoom for about an hour and a half once a week, but they dont work and the only thing they have done during the lock down is talk about buying fish or cooking fish, so each week the chats are very much the same as the week before.
I zoom with my friends for bible study, so far they can hear me, I can see and hear them. I can not work out why, and the only ones who could help can not come and visit. I meant to say all they get is a crossed off camera.
Hi there, I have a weekly camera club zoom with up to 60 members on it, that runs for up to two hours.Plus another two group zooms of about 40 mins every 2 weeks.
Doesn’t matter how long they have been planned it’s always busy when they are about to start....
We have used zoom for family meet ups, including golden wedding celebration when we all had tea together and had a family “concert”. We use FaceTime and WhatsApp all the time to speak to our grandchildren and out 3 year old calls us whenever she fancies. We play hide and seek with her over WhatsApp. I have coffee meet ups on FaceTime now, as we have been shielding since March. Our grandchildren’s school has invited us to their assemblies and special events on Microsoft Teams, which is marvellous and works extremely well. I am so glad we have this technology, it makes it all bearable.
I really hate being on camera so avoid any type of video calling at all costs! My mobile phone is so old it’s almost obsolete so it doesn’t have enough memory to add many more apps - in fact every time I add something new, something else gets deleted! 😂
Greetings: I zoom once a week with family, and friends for 2 hours, and it is the next best thing to actually being there . H-a-p-p-y T-h-a-n-k-s-g-i-v-i-n-g
