Totally agree. I just hope the rumours the press are circulating are true. I’ll be watching bbc parliament later to see what Boris has to say.

Thanks mate, a lot of people don't think about lives, all they think about is oh it's good to socialise, yeh it is good but lives matter and this needs to be addressed, there's more to life than drinking and it's called saving lives

I totally agree Hidden

I see the pain of businesses too, but at the end of the day lives are more important, u can bring a pub back but u can't bring lives back

While I agree with a lot you have said, I think it largely depends on where you are and the rate of transmission in your local area.

Here in the North East, we have had nearly 2,000 students who have tested positive while not displaying any symptoms. It is easy to think that this does not cause a problem to the rest of the community because they are all on campus.

However, like a lot of cities, Newcastle is a party town. Hundreds, and I do mean hundreds, of young people party over the weekend, going from pub to pub. This is a mixture of young people from the city and out lying towns and villages and the student population. So, you can see how easily this is spread amongst this group. However, not all of these people have their own accommodation, some still live at home. Some, (most) work. So the illness is not restricted to the younger generation or the inner city areas. Out lying towns and villages also have high transmission rates.

Already, here in the North East, hospital admissions amongst older age groups have increased and ICU beds are filling up with Covid patients. What happens to the person who has a serious car crash or stroke during these times is a cause for worry.

Closing us down for a couple of weeks will hopefully slow down the transmission and allow things to return to the “new” normal.

So u haven't seen the crowds outside pubs and clubs of a night, come on mate, it's a factor in the spread of covid, it's ok saying its not the cause of the spread, of course it is, as well as visiting other households

"Big Brother" ¿or "Big Muppet"? has the data - so we assume that he is targeting restrictions where they can do most good.

Perhaps they could quadruple the duty on alcohol?

I think the 10pm curfew is stupid anyway!
