Hi Andyd57 .I have Valvula Heart Disease,Angina,Asthma and COPD. 2 years ago I was rushed Into hospital because they thought I was having a Heart Attack. My Cardiologist wasn't on call, do I had to see another one. This new Cardiologist checked my notes and said that I be having 3 Stents. He wanted to do another angiogram, but I told him that my Cardiologist and myself had agreed NOT to do another angiogram in my groin, because they aren't without risk. This New Cardiologist agreed to do it in the inside of my wrist. When they took me down to have the procedure done, the Cardiologist that I saw wasn't even there. It was a young Man called Dave. I told him that he was Not to go in my groin. He said okay that he would do it in my wrist. He tried 3 times but couldn't do it. He said that my Blood vessels were calcified. The next thing I knew was my groin went so very cold. He was going in my groin After me telling him NOT TO. I was soaking wet and the pain in my groin, my back, my stomach and my right leg was Agony. Everyone started panicking. He had his fists pressed into my groin, OMG it was terrible. I actually shouted at him, Shit get off me .He said " I'm sorry I can't let go, I have to stop the stem. Then I realized that the wet I felt was my own blood. He had torn my Major Blood vessel and I was having a Major Bleed. The pain was unbearable. They put me in a kind of jacket with something pressing in my groin. I was like that for 6 hours. Laying flat and couldn't move. Eventually they took me back up to Coronary Care Ward.I still couldn't move. They were giving me sips of water through a bendy straw. Then the Nurses were told that they could raise my head 1 inch every hour. It was a really frightening experience. The Doctor that attempted to do the procedure, knew that he did wrong .He came to see me several times and kept apologising. The Cardiologist that I saw on my Admission was coming to see me and he was apologising as well..That was 2 years ago and I haven't been back to the Cardiac Clinic since..I have had 2 letters from the hospital asking me to make an appointment for another Angiogram, but this time they would go from the inside of my right elbow. My Cardiologist wrote to my GP and asked her, if it was possible for her to change my mind. I told her NO .and I haven't seen a Cardiologist since. But the trouble is, I am beginning to have worsening pains in my chest. I don't know what to do because I just don't trust them..

Great news Andy.

My cardiologist told me that he is less concerned when he sees calcification. He was at pains to point out that this wasn’t in any way saying that calcification is a good thing! He was more worried about the uncalcified or β€œhot” plaques that are more liable to rupture.

My understanding is that, amongst other things, statins help to stabilise plaques by calcifying them.

Best wishes

Calcified blood vessels are certainly not a good thing if it's causing a problem having stents put in. It can also affect your Legs and arms, because it stops the blood circulation. A lot of people with Diabetes have this problem, leading to having amputations. If your Cardiologist is less concerned about calcified blood vessels, then perhaps he should go back to Med School.

That’s brilliant news I’m so pleased for you... did the cardiologist say what degree of calcification you have ?

That's was awful!!!! Really sorry to hear that. If they want to do it again then you must complete reassurance it doesn't happen again. If your worried about chest pain you have to bite the bullet. But obviously it's your decision. Hope you improve πŸ‘πŸ˜˜πŸ˜˜

Thankyou Andyd57. If they can put the stents in inside my Elbow, I don't mind having it done ( I think ) .I'm certainly having more chest pains now than whatI was having a year ago.I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet. πŸ¦·πŸ¦·πŸ’‹πŸ˜˜x

Good on ya. Let me know how you get on. Not sure this will help. Have you got you tube? If so go on to the 7 Chakra s of the body. it's an hour meditation. Lie on your bed and black the room out ndvtry everyday. It really works for me. It helps you to relax and aids your sleep pattern hopefully. Worth a try πŸ‘

Hi Andy .Im definitely going to have to see my Cardiologist again. Had 2 real bad Angina Attacks in bed last night.I chewed a few aprins and used my spray. They did the trick, with the help of my sleeping tablets I had a few hours sleep. I think it's because of all the stress that we've been under the past few weeks. I had Abdominal Surgery 7 weeks ago. Our beautiful little 8 year old Great Granddaughter Ava was in with the Covid19. She's coming along okay now Thank God.πŸ™ Now this afternoon my Hubby is having a Sigmoidoscopy .I'm looking at the clock and its nearly 3 pm. His appointment was for 230pm. Now I'm waiting for him to ring me as I'm housebound and couldn't go with him. We've got YouTube. I'll go on to the 7 Chakras of the body .It's certainly worth a try. Anything is worth a go when you're in so much pain .Thankyou Andy.πŸ‘πŸ˜˜x

It was frightening and painful. But I think that I might just have to go back to Cardiology again. It could be because of the stress we've had lately. I dunno. I know that there's a new way that they can do an angiogram, it's just something like having an MRI. But having the stents done is different. If there's no calcification in the inside of. my elbow it should be okay. 🀞😘
