Personally I’d say three things Meditation, Meditation, Meditation 🧘‍♀️

Does meditation really work?

Agoodenough profile image
Agoodenough in reply toMia898

Yes I think so. It did for me. I had generalised anxiety disorder and I meditated my way out of it, it was caused by anti malaria tablets. I was frightened to take tablets after the terrible reaction I had. I was also then sent to the hospital and was given the wrong dose of a tranquilliser by the hospital. I felt I needed to take things into my own hands and didn’t trust them to help me. I bought a course on how to over come Anxiety, depression and agoraphobia as it covered all three and the bottom line was you were basically paying for a guided meditation but it worked.

I will have to try and thank you :) :)

It’s really worth putting in some time to find one that you like and sticking to the same one. It could be music, chanting or a visualisation or guided meditation anything that relaxes you deeply into yourself. Also hypnotherapy which is basically relaxation. Once you practice this you can very quickly get to that deep relaxation state. I hope this helps you 🙂💚

What meditation do you start with? Have started googling

Agoodenough profile image
Agoodenough in reply toMia898

Maybe a Guided visualisation one. Lots of them are on the beach so if you would like that it’s normally where you visualise yourself on the beach and they talk you through how to relax from the top of your head to your toes. The sun on your skin the sound of the sea etc You’ll have to do it a few times to get the benefits but it’s really worth finding one you like and sticking to it. Also there is a meditation where you visualise a bubbly white cloud and you mentally put all your problems in the cloud and the cloud gets darker and darker As you add your problems and then you visualise the sun coming out and the cloud evaporating. That was one on the course I did and It sounds simple but when the man talks you through it it’s really powerful.

You need to find what suits you and what you can find relaxing. I was new to meditation when I did the course but I was desperate and I soon got into it after listening to it a few times and it really did help with my Generalised anxiety disorder.

I thought I had found purpose in life working a part time job which at first was very fulfilling but this last week has left me wondering if she has a mental health personality disorder which made it very hard to work this past week. Depression is back in full force. 😿💔 I work Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Both days was pure hell. Very irritable 😡 and said hateful and hurtful things. When I asked my client if it was high pain day got now reply. Even asked “why are you so irritable today?” No reply. Said other hateful things and moody both days. My client started out nice and friendly but then noticed moodiness first thing in the morning but then would be fine the rest of the day. I use to work under a director of nursing nurse who started out nice and friendly but later noticed the toxic behavior where the nursing staff would come to me because they didn’t want to be asked “Is this a matter of life and death? If not go work it out yourself!” No it isn’t the same person but I can’t help but wonder if it is the same mental health disorder?🤔 I sorry I needed to talk it out. I wish I knew of a sure fire way to combat depression. I did all the meditation but got away from it when I started working. I guess I need to start doing it again.

I agree with Agoodenough , meditation. Also be kind to yourself.

I find exercise so good for mental health.

Peter I am so sorry for your loss. I used the same coping strategies 5 years ago when my only child age 14 died.

My faith, work ,voluntering, and ability to keep busy helped.

Stay safe.

Amen, and GOD bless you

For me its my Sobriety, everything has more meaning, more purpose, I have goals and ambitions now.

For the first time in many a year I know where I'm going now im sober living. Nothing feels better than not having an addiction your a slave to, for too long i have just been surviving, only coming so close to dying last year, im actually living now......even with the poor health that im left with, but thats what comes with years of self loathing and addiction.....not anymore though.

So thats just my answer to that 😃👍bit deep but best way I can explain it.

Strange questions to be asking and if you were here I’d ask you why, but since you’re not I’m going to hazard a guess: you’re in a bad place, a dark place.. You need help, my

friend. Don’t be afraid to ask for it. You can talk to us here, of course, but I think you need more: a therapist or psychiatrist. Please.

The best thing to do is keep busy. Meditation is great but it takes practise. Do you live alone? Have family or close friends? You definitely need someone talk too. If you are struggling you can always talk to The Samaritans. It doesn't matter what you say to them they have the time and expertise to help you. x

Go boating.

Money can't buy you happiness but it can buy you a boat which for me is the same thing.

Any boat is better than no boat.

Sadly jain88, there is no absolute end whilst we are living breathing human beings. As one guru once said "you can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf". And that sums up how you learn to live with all the feelings, high and low that life sends to us all. I know you have posted before, as a sufferer of extreme depression and my advice is still to urge you to work with health professionals to combat as much of your depression as you can. Think of it as your life's work. To feel better than you do. 🙏

Hello jain88

Stay busy. In this day and age life is so easy that we have too much time on our hands. I am never bored or depressed because I have so many things I need/want to do. Blessings.
