I live in an old house with thick brick walls, with a mature garden.
Last time it was hot I found it difficult to get to sleep if it was over 25 C… but I have lost five and a half stone, and it seems to help.
I leave the attic hatch open to let the hot air out of the house - my son lives in London and is having air conditioning installed… what do you do?

Yours sounds like a good method of sleeping better in the current heat S11M.
I'm in a tiny apartment, built for winter heating economy so it can get pretty hot around here in summer, which I hate, as my inner thermostat seems not to work efficiently any more.
I live high enough up to be able to ventilate with wide-open windows overnight without feeling any fear, and I do that. I also find that a shower last thing, without towelling off, and then lying on top of the bed and drip-drying on said towel, helps enormously, and once I'm off to sleep, the heat ceases to bother me. 🙏
Apart from having every window on the latch, the kitchen extractors on and a Tower fan on in the corridor, which moves the air through the bungalow, there isn't a lot else I can do. It makes it tolerable.
Older houses with thicker walls are better, as the older methods of construction helped to keep things more stable on the temperature front.
