Hi, insomnia is horrid isn’t it? Hope you manage to get some sleep tomorrow night. My remedy? A mug of warm milk🙂
I usually get up,make a hot drink then go back to bed and read as thoughv it was the first time I had gone to bed and it works for me. Try it. x
How about listening to audio books. I go to sleep listening to them, then just drift off.

Hi there, there are also plenty of helpful free sleep apps worth taking a look at. 👍😊
I do the same thing as Sheila and read or do a crossword and it does work in preparing you to sleep again. With the light mornings I sometimes pop an eye mask on before going back to sleep too, so that I don't wake again at first light. I have blackout curtains, but they're pretty useless.
It sometimes helps to write down what you're anxious about and leave it on your bedside table to deal with in the morning.
Deep breathing and listening as you inhale and exhale can help too. Do for 10 minutes.
Never ever use the internet during the night, as that has no soothing effect whatsoever.

Sorry to hear Rob-B1! I do empathise as I suffer with insomnia too, though mine's more of the old age related than anxiety. I think it does help if you can find your own strategy to deal with it, by making up your mind what you'll do whilst you are wakeful. I have my own rule that I'll give it about 20 minutes to see if I can drift off again, but if, as so often happens, that's not happening, I just get up, make a cuppa, listen to some music or play some computer games, and eventually I can usually snatch another couple of hours. But I agree that it really is an aggravating (and tiring) thing!
Have you tried headphones and listen to a sleep relaxation meditation? Being awake at night is awful. Everything seems 100 times worse.
