B12 injections I successfully obtained via Amazon.de great price and reasonably quick delivery. But they will now no longer sell to the UK.

Does anyone know of an alternative?

Much appreciated but I was advised that I can only absorb B12 via injection. Sorry tablets can't help

Have you talked to you Dr. I would think your MD could be of help. love n hugs.....

Annuska in reply to Sprinkle1

Hugs and kisses to you too. The main reason I purchased injectable B12 elsewhere was because my Doctor thought a by-monthly injection would remedy my condition.... it didn't

Hi Annuska, You should not give up on your GP. She or he has trained for many years and understands the problem with overdosing on any medication. Having twice as much of a thing does not give you twice the cure and you should really be having a consultation with your GP and asking why your condition is no better, and what can be done to improve things. The reason amazon cannot sell injections legally here, is that self-medicating is dangerous for so many reasons.

Try b12d.org they might be able to advise you. This is a very reputable support group.

No, definitely not. It would have to be specifically for injecting I would think as sublingual in under the tongue.

My aunt gets these injections through her doctors practice in the UK. Why are you having to buy them ?

Want2BHappy3 profile image
Want2BHappy3

No, but thought you could only get those shot from the doctor?

You bought injection on amazon. I never heard of that. I glad they don’t sell them,

Anymore, that is illegal!

Annuska profile image
Annuska in reply to

Your reply did surprise me and I did some checking and believe it is not illegal here in the UK. If it was I wouldn't be purchasing it

in reply to Annuska

Wow , I believe you. But drs.here can either give you the injection, Have a nurse come to your house. Or a prescription for you to do it yourself, taught to you by a nurse. Just be careful❤️

Annuska , pop over to the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum on here and do a post, there will be people who can help with your question.

You are correct. I got that wrong I thought I was posting on the PA forum. Thank you for your understanding.

Here's the link: healthunlocked.com/pasoc

When you click on a link in HealthUnlocked it always asks you if you want to proceed, an abundance of caution I guess. Just click on the link again when you get that message.

HeronNS in reply to Annuska

Oh you don't need to apologise. We are probably not as helpful to you as the right forum would be! This is one that HU set up to help keep us entertained and half sane during Covid19 lockdown....

How are you doing with that? I live in Nova Scotia and they are just beginnning a very slow easing of restrictions. I can now get together with another household in my immediate family. We are going to have supper with my son and his partner tomorrow and I have already asked if we can play scrabble after as I am in board game withdrawal!

So pleased you can get to see your family.

We haven't got there yet but I did love getting to a nearby beach, where we could even have a picnic. The best day (husband and gorgeous dog) we've shared for ever.

Yes, NS is pretty special. The health authorities and the politicians have been worried about us because there were a series of tragedies. You may have heard in the news about a unique mass killing - 22 people shot and homes burned in several communities over the space of about 12 hours. Perpetrator disguised as an RCMP officer. Then not long after that a helicopter involved in NATO exercises off the coast of Greece went down killing all six on board, three of them called NS their home. And then we were doing so well with Covid until it got into the largest nursing home, actually a really well run place, but an older building with shared rooms, and now almost everyone who has died in our province lived there. A lot of the workers are sick, too.

I think because of this a couple of weeks ago they opened up some parks and trails that had been closed so more people could get outside more easily following physical distancing regulations, and now they are letting us "bubble" with only one other household. If there's no spike in disease rate, they'll loosen things up a bit more. I think they are also starting to attend to delayed surgeries, etc., as our hospitals have not been overwhelmed at all.

Personally I am looking forward to getting my hair cut and my twice rescheduled dental appointment rebooked!

Yikes, sorry, we were sadly unaware. What a horrible tragedy does make you wonder where the humanity actually is in us. Regardless despite the horrors we can and do inflict I and I hope we all have hope we can be better folk and I still would love to visit Nova Scotia some day. Still love the dream

They were worried about people's mental wellbeing because with the pandemic they couldn't have proper funerals, they couldn't get together with family and friends. Even people like me, well used to social isolation since retirement in 2014, and not knowing any of the people involved, felt quite overwhelmed. I discovered a place outside the then forbidden common, a strip of grass with cherry trees planted all along it, and just walking beneath those trees was comforting. It's quite true - if you can't hug a person, hug a tree, although preferably one that hasn't recently been hugged by someone else :D .

Hi Annauska,

If these were not prescribed for you by your GP you should not be having them. If they were then please contact your GP surgery to ask how and where these can be given to you safely. Over the counter B vitamins are available over the counter, and any pharmacist in a chemist shop will be able to advise you on which would be the best to take. Hope this helps.

Annuska, you are saying that you cannot absorb B12 orally and need an injection. That suggests you may have pernicious anaemia - an inability of the body to absorb B12. I was diagnosed with this some 30 years ago and have to have regular injections to keep my B12 levels normal. I cannot absorb it orally. I have my injection every 6-8 weeks. It is fatal if you have this disease and it remains untreated. My problem was diagnosed with a urine test but as that was years ago there may be other ways of detecting it. I had less than 100 units of B12 in my body prior to diagnosis and boy, did I feel ill. I thought I had the big C at the time. Suggest you contact your doctor and get this sorted. You won't need to pay for injections if you do have pernicious anaemia. Some people like Madonna, for example, have a B12 injection before they go on stage but that's only to give them a high, not because they have a deficiency. xx

I would be very wary of buying anything medicinal via any company but especially a broad website like Amazon . It may sell thinking all is OK but obviously can't vet every supplier . I am actually pleased that they can't/ won't sell anymore as many goods by price alone do make you think .

Why do you inject B12?
