Getting shopping.

If you have had a txt or letter because of being in the high risk group there is a link on this to register that you need a food delivery....

You just have to say that you don't have anyone to get food for you...

Hopefully if you haven't had one yet it will arrive soon... Very best wishes to all..

If you don't come in this category try sainsbury.. They are giving priority slots for some elderly and vulnerable..

If not perhaps give your local shop a ring and ask if they can help you... They might surprise you

Hi cazer

I hope everything is well with you. Sadly the scheme is just in England so being Scottish it’s an issue. I can’t get through to sainsbury, it’s a waste of time trying. I counted 742 calls to them over the past 3 days, it’s always either engaged or when you get through as I did on 3 occasions you get cut off. I’m beside myself as we are both registered disabled and also in the high risk group for both of us, we are aged 61 and 66 but have significant chronic illnesses such as Fibromyalgia, chronic pain due to overgrowth of scar tissue compressing my sciatic nerve, COPD, Chronic renal failure, progressive neurological disease leading to lack of feeling and sensation in his hands , arms and legs. So carrying bags of shopping is not an option.

I’m scared, I’ve spent way way over our budget trying to get staples, I don’t have a big store cupboard now like I used too as I simply don’t have the money now. Everything is so much more expensive, lots have minimal spends and others have large delivery costs. I know it’s left me almost 1k overdrawn.

God help us all.

I've had a very similar experience with Sainsburys. They're obviously inundated.

Oh bless you lm so sorry you are in such a pickle... Have you got any food banks near you... Please reach out... A local shop nearby.. Charities.. Now is not the time to be proud... Put a note on your front window asking if anyone can help... Try your docs and see if they were in touch with any volunteer groups... If you were near me I would give some of ours..

Xxx

Oh Cazer

That is so lovely of you, I’m sending a big virtual hug.

There are people much worse off than I am. I get my meds delivered which is more than a lot get, plus we don’t pay in Scotland.

I’ve managed to buy some stuff, hence having to pay through the nose. I’m in a lucky place in that I had a fabulous Mum who could make a meal out of virtually nothing and I’m the same. Nourishing pots of chicken soup with HM bread and then chicken risotto with the soup chicken. Not fancy but feeds us for 2 days if I then make something like egg fried rice with any leftovers.

I had a lady that helped with our cleaning but her company cancelled all contracts. I had paid her upfront till the end of the month but I know she will come back.

I’ve decided than on my good days if my hands and body allow I’ll make bags and hopefully I can sell them along with other things I make after the pandemic is over. I’ve got lots of craft stuff which I bought when I was a nurse practitioner and it ended up I was too tired to craft then of course disability hit.

Thanks again 😘

Thanks Jerry

I’m sure this will be so useful and I’ll let you know how I get on. Even if someone can go to tesco or wherever and pick me up things like milk, eggs and loo roll.

There are folk who are in worse states than me I’m sure but I will swallow my pride and ask for help.

Thanks again for this.

Oh thank you.. Please do reach out, as I'm. Sure there will be people who will help in your area. The trouble is its putting people in touch with each other...

I'm writing meal plans... Yes it's surprising what you can make with a few ingredients..

Nothing is being wasted perhaps someone is teaching the ones amongst us who waste to step up... You don't sound like you are in that group...

We are not too bad but now nothing will be wasted...

The cats are on shorter rations... Ha ha

Now just got to teach my hubby not to eat all the snacks in 1 week

.. Please try your docs... As I say reach out like you did to us and hopefully things will improve

Please let us know if you have any success....

Very best wishes cazer xx

Hi

I recognize your name , have you been on the HU liver forum? Take care and stay safe Lynne xxxx

in reply toSkyebuttons

Yes, I agree. It's terrible that you had a job where you helped people and now it's you who needs help. Is there anyone who you worked with who could help you. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx 😘

Hi Lynne

Thanks for the lovely message, I’m bowled over by the kindness shown on here. It’s strange, it’s not often that it hits us that we have no family and that our friends are about 300 miles away but this horrible pandemic has brought it home, probably for the first time ever.

Cazer, I warned our 2 picky cats that they need to get their act together or it will be short rations for them too. Thank goodness for zooplus, while they didn’t have as good a selection as usual I was still able to get a good order in plus a big bag or litter. They are indoor cats so litter is a must unless I can train them to use the toilet 🤣

There will be very little goes to waste. I think there will be big pots of soups made and that with bread will be a filler before mains. It’s funny, I lost my mum only a few years ago but I can hear her saying during the war we did x, y and z to get by. Perhaps the same sense of community will develop even though we are all isolated.

I ramble too much 😉

Be safe everyone

Yes, our cats millie and tyson are pretty fussy but they will have to learn to behave... Ha ha..

Did you try your local charities... England is having a support system being set up.. But I think having slept on it... Maybe your council is worth a try... I think someone else said that..

Yes it's suddenly very scary isn't it..

Our daughter and partner are physios and will probably be in the community close up to people and at present with no proper protective gear..

Our daughter in law is a gp.. So a worrying time.

Another son is a farmer with a pregnant wife!!!

Our baby 20 is having to live elsewhere as we are in the top risk grp as well as I had a transplant nearly 3 yrs ago...

It's all very odd... So just trying not to be a worry wart.. As it solves nothing... But I'm prone to a little mother henning..!!!! Ha ha...

You sound very switched on with your cooking.. And yes you are right, the older generation are much more switched on than us...

I saved my 1st piece of wrapping paper this week... Going to give it a cool iron... Ha ha..

Beautiful weather here today.. I hope you have a view of some sort...

Very best wishes cazer,

Keep us up to date on how you are doing xxx
