Writing letters, the Internet, trying to clean the house, failing and this afternoon taking the dogs for a walk, because I live in an isolated area I am allowed even though on strict lock down, I won't meet any one either driving to the forest or walking there.

Here in Spain we aren't allowed move from the house, only exception is one person per household to do shopping or go to the chemist and the vast majority here live in apartments with no terraces or gardens!. This is our second week now and it is amazing how people conform and organise a routine making this seem "normal" or as normal as possible. Everyone here is taking it very seriously and are staying indoors. Time is spent on social media, Netflix, HBO, cleaning, indoor exercising, Skyping friends and family, reading, listening to podcasts ....

Yes sensible. Make the most of a bad situation. Here in the UK it is not yet legally necessary to stay in but soon will be I think and should be. BUT I have a small back garden I can sit in.

Did you get out in the sunlight today in your garden?

Hi there. How are you getting on? Was too busy to get out in the sun today, my partner has just moved in so had a lot to do, and its quite cold outside, I live right by the seaside. But hopefully we will have time soon and it will be warm enough soon.

in reply to wiserlady

Hi it’s kind of you to ask. It feels a bit like the end of the world to me. At times like these I like to think of my favourite things (if they are within a certain suitable parameter) - like plants, the sun, etc. I’m just keeping as busy as possible-that’s how I cope-mostly learning stuff and creating things. Oh ok I hope you get in your garden soon. Do you have any plants? Yes true

IF I were you I would concentrate on going on a diet so that the food you already have lasts longer - and how to get food without asking another person to risk catching the virus. Then dream about all the other stuff later when you have spare time. Those things arent practical and wont save your life.

What? I’ve booked an online shop just like you have

How long will it take? Is it going to be delivered ? We had to do click and collect, werent able to get a delivery, and it takes three weeks here. Then much of what you order doesnt turn up .

in reply to

Well there are many businesses that are delivering

wiserlady profile image
wiserlady in reply to

Not in our area. Only ASDA and Tesco where it takes three weeks and must be click and direct. Anyway you were saying you didnt know what to do about food and would ask an old person to get it for you. Didnt realise you could just order it instead.

in reply to wiserlady

I suppose different areas have different sorts of people who make different decisions

Wouldhave thought that if it takes longer in one area than another its because the have more customers are are busier, or less delivery drivers or whatever. Nobody makes decisions to take longer to deliver than necessary. Its all done by their website. They process thousands of order per day.

in reply to wiserlady

I was referring to the amount of businesses that are delivering in my area and their decisions regarding delivery options, not the length of delivery time-there are at least 15 businesses doing food delivery here. I mean some places have more locally centric food companies.

Thats great. IF that was me then I would get them to deliver asap. Not go to a shop. ITS FAR SAFER. But each to their own. We wont go to the shop now, cant be too careful. IF we could have we would have made sure they delivered instead of click and collect but had no choice there.

in reply to wiserlady

Sorry to hear you can’t get a delivery. I have ordered but will be a few weeks. Well he’s going for himself anyway and he’s not ill

Glad you were able to order. So if he is going that means its click and collect then and not a delivery? I know they are quicker. But old people and those with a chronic physical illness should be very careful about going out anywhere as its worse for them if they get the virus. Have you got a garden?

in reply to wiserlady

Thanks. I think I was worrying more than not knowing what to do. Couldn’t get click and collect for a few weeks so just booked a delivery which will arrive in a few weeks. I know I understand that but I assure you he is not ill and he wants to go to the shop for himself anyway. He has no health issues at all. If a delivery person gets your shopping and leaves it outside your door, if they had the virus couldn’t it be on the shopping? Yes I have a small garden. I grow things there.

Yes you are right, a delivery person could be infected and pass it on through the shopping. Same as a person you speak to who hands it over with click and collect can. But as they do it a lot I would imagine some would have already got ill as a result of them and they would be at home ill by now hopefully and not passing it on anymore anyway. Glad you have a garden. What are you growing?

in reply to wiserlady

Yes you are right, it is risky to be a shop worker. You are quite a matter of fact sort of person which is useful for many sorts of occupations-do you manage a lot of people?

I’m growing herbs in pots since that can keep the slugs off and keep them warmer. I’m growing willow trees and apple trees as they are my favourites. I would grow more food if I had a bigger garden and I would like to grow things for other people too. I would like to have an orchard. After I’ve written and published my first book or after I’ve finished my degree that I’m doing or found a job or become self employed or whatever maybe I can get a bigger garden.

Good to have ambitions and goals - aiming for success and a bigger garden is terrific. Growing more things is possible before that anyway maybe in the garden you have somehow even if using hanging baskets or stuff on walls? Yes I manage a lot of people and help a lot of clients with advice.

in reply to wiserlady

Yes you are right we should use everything we’ve got to progress. I do have some hanging baskets and I’m developing the garden bit by bit. You do seem like the managerial type. You certainly make me think! I hope you have a good day, I’m going in the garden now x

in reply to wiserlady

The person who’s going shopping with me is going for himself too.

Is this click and collect then or a delivery? WHICH SHOP>

in reply to wiserlady

Delivery since click and collect waiting times were basically the same

in reply to wiserlady

Well I’m learning as much as I can to solve problems what about you?

Solving problems and making decisions is what I DO every day for clients. You just look at all of the options and make sure you have covered them all and pick the most sensible one.

in reply to wiserlady

Good for you

Not sure how I’m coping I’m trying not to think about it. I’m working on my inventions, writing a book and studying mostly. What about you x
