Yes, I notified it to my insurer who has charged a premium of £40 to cover 12 months for UK & Europe which was the same amount as when my husband was being treated for early stage prostate cancer. Do check with your insurer otherwise you might not be covered in the event of a problem.

Enjoy your holiday.

Good evening to you.

If you have got E 111 card then you pay what the locals pay at the national health service. E111 cannot be used in private clinics.

I notified my insurance company just to be safe, but they didn't charge me any extra.

Thank you all so much. My free travel insurance is with HSBC. Polymialga is notifyable but this condition was listed as no extra premium to pay. I would be unable to use E111 as travelling outside EU. Anyway feeling great at the moment so do not expect any health problems.

Yes, you must notify your insurance company. If you don't and something else happens, even unrelated to the PMR, they can refuse to pay. It wasn't a big deal and I had no extra to pay. Enjoy the holiday!

I have just been to Cuba for 2 weeks - had a great time - no problems at all ! Did phone my hol ins company before going to inform them - now PMR is listed against my "conditions" but I remained fully covered for world travel - no extra premium to pay. I was slightly anxious about going abroad as I have only been taking the steroids since Xmas eve. I would recommend everyone notifies the insurance company of any new conditions before they go on holiday - just to reassure yourself you are covered so you can relax on holiday. Even if you have to pay extra it is worth it for peace of mind. As with any other insurance policies vary - so allow youself time to do a little shopping around! PS. Mine is with Barclays Premier banking - the policy seems good all round and telephone help is straightforward.
