Thank you for bringing Dorset Lady's Adrenal post up again. I noticed in the symptoms of a problem is stomach issues. I am not stranger to these but at the moment I have just got down to 2 mg Pred and last week had a couple of "different" ones. I was suddenly gripped by a nasty pain bang in the middle which I have never had before and a few days later it grabbed me in the night? Is this typical of Adrenal issues? It did coincide with some fairly hefty stress which I have now dealt with!
Another Adrenal insufficiency question. - PMRGCAuk
Another Adrenal insufficiency question.
I feel it is. I have had stomach cramps and awful diarrhoea for 1day and night at the end of the taper when at 3,75mg and 3.5mg
Could well be… a/I seems to affect people in very different ways.
Yes of course - I just hadn't had that sort of pain before but I believe it might be gall bladder grumbling a bit too. Not acute like gall stones but different to pains I have had before.
Yes thank you I am sure it contributed!
What I've read says A/I can result in "abdominal pains." I may be going through the same thing myself right now at 4 mg. I've got other GI issues, though, so it's hard to really tell.
Interesting. I've had a few instances of 'indigestion', which I rarely get usually, in recent months and I didn't think it might be the adrenals. I've just tapered down to 3mg (and am I pleased with myself as it's been a long process!).
Yes, i have bad stomach cramps when i have adrenal insufficiency issues…& that usually leads, at some point, to water like diarrhoea. So jolly!
I am all too familiar with the water like stuff from the Diverticulitis - Jolly indeed - Not! Are the cramps in any particular area of your tum?
Thinking about it, they are dead centre, for worst pain, but spread across, too. They go once the diarrhoea waves (often about 4 times) have passed, They are definitely not on one side or the other, otherwise I’d be concerned it was appendicitis (my Dad had a burst appendix & a huge scar that scared me as a child!)
That's interesting that yours are central too. I had a burst appendix too a long time ago and my diverticulitis pain is low left side. It is a very spikey pain sort of took my breath away.
Yes, I think that’s quite different. My Mum & hubby both had/have diverticulitis…& we’ve had to adjust our diet quite a bit!! Glad to share my horrible stomach troubles with you, glad it helped! S x
Doesn't it just show how valuable these forums are. I would have been quite lost without this one. Thank you everyone.
Yes, but I do think, in this forum, we move away from GCA/PMR subject a lot…though you nicely managed to fit our ‘guts’ in with the adrenal insufficiency bit, ha ha!! I’m able to help with nearly everything…except for PMR/GCA, about which I know very little indeed! Now I have 11 other diseases, & I find they come up on here a lot, so I try to help! Take care, & avoid chilli, spicy food, too much garlic…& all the fun stuff…boo hoo! S x
Do you remember the very old song about Dem Bones - the thigh bone's connected to the knee bone and so on. I really believe everything is connected to a lesser or greater degree and I certainly wouldn't be wondering about Adrenal Insufficiency if it wasn't for PMR and GCA/prednisolone. I think the wonderful people do a great job of keeping us on topic!
I have always disliked chili and spicey foods so that is quite easy for me! I am very fond of roasted garlic and so far haven't fallen foul of that - yet.
