Ongoing maintenance

Hello againHaving successfully, hopefully, reached 3mg prednisone after 4 years and planning the ever so slow descent to zero, can I please ask those of you happily free of the drug if you take any supplements claiming to suppress inflammation? As a precaution?

Not that I have got there and never will - but my opinion of supplements is that they are a means of transferring your bank balance to someone else's and making you pee your purchase down the drain!! I haven't heard anyone report outstanding success with supplements - if they had, we probably wouldn't be here.

Oh - and a PS: there aren't that many here who are totally free of pred. Most of them sail off into the sunset and get on with life. Though there are some who stick around to help.

I've been "free" of Pred for 8 years... never felt the need to take any supplements you are asking about..

And have you had any major side affects after 8 yrs of pred, and were you on it constantly, no breaks? What is your current dose?

No major side effects on Pred or off it.

Was on it for 4 and a half years [GCA - so 80mg down to zero].

Been off it now for 8 years.

Disgustingly healthy really- sorry you’re not…

I will buck the trend and say I wouldn't have got to 3mcg of pred without supplements. I have experimented widely doing without but would have had even more difficulty weaning off pred. Without Turmeric and MSM.
