Just wanted to share the amount raised by my fellow athlete friend Andrew Morrison who ran 50k at the weekend, his feet were battered and very sore, he said
"my feet look like a scene from a horror film and running past my house at 44k I really wanted to stop but know we're making a difference for people like you was epic"
I'm humbled and honoured that he chose us over all other charities. Here is a link to his story and the amount raised.
If the Admin team could thank him separately I'd really appreciate it.
I am, we’ve had the same coach for a few years and been on training camps together alongside others that have donated. I feel very special and quite emotional for such a kind thing to do. The coach has left the door open for me to go back one day and that’s my intention, he’s inspired me 😊
It would be great if a letter/poster of some kind could be emailed to all who took part so that we can copy and forward to our donors (filling in personal details and funds raised ourselves) to make it more ‘official’ or would that be too much to ask?
The charity does have a 'Certificate of Appreciation' that is sent out. I received one after PMRGCAuk Awareness week in June, after sending donations raised at 3 groups to which I belong. It was sent as an attachment to an email, so could be forwarded to donors, or printed out. If the charity staff are made aware of the money raised, I'm sure they would be happy to acknowledge it - and maybe they do.
Yes we send an email and certificate of appreciation to people who fundraise for us. Our Marathon in a Month participants will be receiving these later this month. We have to leave it a little while as we're still receiving money through the JustGiving pages and through cash sponsors...
Wow that really is wonderful and so generous of him to work so hard for the charity that helps so many of us!
I’ve just done the Marathon in a Month challenge for PMR/GCAUK and find it helped me in many ways too, which was a bonus!
I actually found the awareness raising just as valuable as the funds to help improve understanding of these ‘invisible’ conditions. Most friends greet me with oh you look fine/great/so much better than you did etc, not realising how much of a struggle this all is.
Hi MalloryMoss! I'm just back from holiday and the first thing I did this morning was to check in with Andrew's page to see how he'd got on and then I sent him a certificate of appreciation.
We are so grateful to him for choosing us and raising such a fantastic sum and awareness of the charity. His efforts, and those of all the fundraisers and sponsors, make such a difference to what we can do.
