I don’t know if it’s due to the pred but I’ve noticed that mosquitoes seem to like me very much now, can’t say I feel the same about them 😡
I never used to be particularly bothered about them, if they did have a nosh on me it’d just be a little bump, that would go after a few days without any noticeable itchiness.
But today I’ve been bitten 4-5 times, and it’s driving me crazy….the bumps are very red, about the size of a 50p and itching like mad. Anyone else had this?
I’ve put some sting and bite cream on, but never been like this before……

I have wondered the same. Last week I had a tick latch on. First one ever (as far as I know) in 18 years living in a high tick location. We are blessed with regular roe deer visitors to the garden, live by a wood, and sheep are resident on the hillside behind us each summer. But the downsides are they fetch their wee tick buddies too! The last thing I need is Lymes disease on top of my woes 😳
I find Aloe Jelly stops the itch faster than anything else. I take lots away on safari with me for mossie bites and usually end up supplying the camp, it's incredible stuff. Anecdotally mossies are said not to like the taste either so the aloe lotion might put them off. But I can't say I have evidence of that. I used to get my jelly through a Forever agent but now get it off Amazon - Avureda I think this one is.
I’ve found the same, never been bothered by them before but this year had multiple bites that I reacted quite badly to, large inflamed areas, very itchy etc…
Hi, yes I definitely respond badly to insect bites, even ants (which I believe is not bites but secretion) The itching continues for days and I often rub my skin so hard it bruises or tears. I use Eurex which calms it but not for the ten hours it claims to.
I use propolis on bites and it seems to stop the itching well. Mind you I'm a huge fan of propolis for most things. It's amazing for oven burns if you slather it on straight away. Avoided many a nasty blister with that.
I've never associated being bitten with pred. I never got bitten by anything when I was married to my ex and we travelled all over the world. He would be savaged by every mossie going and I would sit beside him totally unscathed. So it was a shock, my first solo holiday abroad and the mossies ate me alive. God, I miss that man.
Yes! I’m having issues with bug bites—massive, red mounds that burst and weep. And take forever to heal. No skirts for me this summer 😩 my legs are a fright!
Oh I'm so glad you posted this. I thought I was going crazy, but I have had dozens of mosquito bites instead of the one or two I usually get. I thought it must be a new, virulent strain of mosquito!
There is such a reaction called Skeeter Syndrome where certain people develop itchy blisters regardless of whether the bite site has been scratched or not.
