Hi, having been diagnosed with PMR in March and joining this fantastic forum around the same time, I’ve finally got round to completing my profile!
I am an avid reader of the daily emails with posts and have learned so much already and am a little humbled by many of the experiences I have read about.
Wishing everyone the best journey possible.

Many thanks. I’ve already been silently copying & pasting material for possible future (easy) reference - so much valuable info. Hope you have a good weekend.
That’s very true - and I’ve been particularly struck by your mantras around being patient (not something that comes easy to me) and playing the long game. Have a good weekend.
Hello. I was diagnosed at age 59 so a bit earlier than you. 15mg of pred gave me my life back and then, using info from this forum, I worked out a slow tapering regime to reduce to zero over almost 3 years. My GP was very happy to prescribe according to my plan and the Rheumatologist didn't want to see me for which I am quite grateful. My advice - don't try and reduce your dose quickly; no 'cliff edge' drops in dose - always taper the dose and never try and reduce by more than 10%. I hope you have an easy time of it.
Welcome to this excellent forum. My experience was similar to alangg’s. It gave me the knowledge and confidence to agree with my GP that I would manage my pred at my own pace. Patience is the key. Don’t let anyone persuade you to taper any more quickly than advised here. It took me three years and some take longer.
Hi Gary, welcome. This is the place to learn everything you need to manage your PMR and feel supported amongst understanding friends. Well done for finding the forum so early. PMR has a devastating and unwelcome effect on your body and your lifestyle at the start but good information and proper management will allow you to continue your life and all that you have going on in it, maybe just a little bit slower.
