Hi all,

I’m wondering if anyone on here can recommend a private Rhuemy in Edinburgh or Glasgow (preferably one that understands about pmr). I did get in touch with PMRGCA Scotland as pro suggested but unfortunately was told that they do not give recommendations for Rheumys. I have done some research on good old Google but just wondered if anyone had any experience with anyone from said areas.

Thanks for reading……any info much appreciated.

I’m in Edinburgh and have been on this journey for 8 years. Was referred to rheumatologist at Western General but really didn’t get on with him and his rather arrogant attitude! Sourced a lovely understanding colleague of his Helen Harris and saw her privately. Really liked her and her understanding of PMR and my individual situation. She is now my rheumatologist within the NHS at the Western.

She’s worth a try. A lovely understanding nature and best of all she listens to me and doesn’t dismiss all my thoughts and suggestions!

Thankyou for your reply and recommendation Lochy!

Not finding it easy to source a rheumatologist in Scotland that has a good understanding of pmr, although during my search I have come across a few in England but certainly not keen on travelling that distance from Perth!

I will add Helen Harris to my extremely short list of hopefuls and continue my search.

Thanks again Lochy.

I saw Dr Bawa at the Nuffield in Glasgow and he was the one who confirmed my PMR after problems with GP practice and NHS rheumie.

Hi Paul76,

Same situation here with GP and NHS Rheumy. I did actually come across Dr Bawa during my search and thought he could be a possibility- good to know that you found him helpful in your diagnosis of PMR.

Thanks for your input.

I wonder if that is who my rheumy here in Italy knows. It's going to very complicated when I end up back in the UK - not in any hurry for that!
