Quick question, could someone help me with some vague results from the hospital. Have been taking Pred for a long time but with the help of Methotrexate injections I am down to 3 mgs (hurray). I had a short synatchen test a couple of weeks ago and Rheumatology Nurse rang me and babbled very quickly that one result was 465 after 30 mins and 22 something else which I didn’t catch and she more or less hung up (I take it she was in a bit of a rush).
Does this mean my Adrenals are back to normal levels (fingers crossed)

Really she should have also told you the basal level to get a decent view but actually it is taken as enough to tell them you have normal function!! This
Adrenal insufficiency is excluded by a 30 min value >430 nmol/L"
So you're fine in theory. Your adrenal glands are capable of producing cortisol in response to a kick with ACTH. What it doesn't tell you is whether the entire system is up and running happily and smoothly day to day and producing that ACTH when required.
That was very unprofessional - if you can't report to the patient properly - wait until you can.
But not sure anyone can say your adrenals are back to normals levels until you are in a situation when they are required to leap into action… and do what they should.
