Dexascans

Been treated for PMR on pred over last 7 years, how often should one be requesting a dexascan, last one 3 yrs aho showed ostopenia?

You can request one now, but whether you will get one is another matter… and it probably varies country to country…

Have to say from comments on here from your fellow countrymen/women, your medical system does seem to be struggling at the moment.

I was told there wasn’t much point less than 3 years, but others have been told 2.

I was told every 2 years but I don’t take anything for granted these days. I have had 3 over an 8 year period. The don’t change much.

I had a baseline scan in 2018 when diagnosed with PMR, followed by another in 2019 and 2022. I’ve been told patients like myself are scheduled to have a bone scan every 3 years (in Ontario, Canada).

Requested mid March and appointment 26 April - yes, this year! NHS full of surprises!

I've just had my second since 2017 following the request of my new GP practice. No results yet though!!

Here in the US it's every 2 years of which I'm due and have an upcoming appt. in May.

I'm dreading this one with the prospect of going on bone medication as I need to have major dental-work concerning implants. Once bone medication is introduced I can't ever get any dental implants going forward.
