Another bug or PMR pain

Posted several times this year about various cold type viruses I have picked up. Thought I was maybe getting another. 4 days after travelling I has slight sore throat that morphed into a body aches. However for the past week I can't ignore the other symptoms and wonder if I've been overdoing it and pmr inflation has increased. My legs ache, I have gastrointestinal discomfort, fatigue and feel psychologically below par. My last pred drop to 7mg was a month ago. Can't get GP appointment until 16th Apr.

Some of those issues sound as if your adrenals are struggling [you are at the level when they need to start thinking about working again] and if you have another virus they may be trying to combat it.

Not a lot you can do about them as such… but if you think it may also be a flare [legs in particular, although that could be virus] you could try an extra mg for a few days.

However, have you tried taking paracetamol to see if that helps the virus type symptoms..

Hmm! Will try paracetamol for a couple more days to see if symptoms settle. Leg pain not helped by ankle tendonitis which seems to get worse on walking not better despite me doing the prescribed exercises. Seeing Osteopath on Tuesday and I will go from there on that issue. Thanks for your help

That's a great article and I have it saved on my PC to read when I get odd symptoms appear. I know I am in the spluttering and stuttering range being on 7mg. Having had 3 cold type viruses since Dec & possibly now fighting off another (unheard of for me pre-PMR) I realise something is not quite right, but useful to be reminded. Thanks again

The exercises are more prevention of a future episode - recovery also requires rest.

Either slow adrenals or 8mg is the dose you need for the PMR for now. If it worsens it is most likely the latter, you aren't ready for 7mg yet. Especially in combination with an infection. But the fact you have been travelling and this all appeared - I think you need to go back for a bit. And maybe slow down the taper to 1/2mg steps.

Agree that I am in the region for adrenals stuttering having read so much on here about it. Due to your and DL advice last year, I went back up to 10mg from 8mg in Aug and have been tapering at 0.5mg every 4-5 weeks. 7mg might well not be enough. Will give it a few more days. Thanks
