I'm listening to my body, more and more!

Wednesday is the highlight of my week. I attend painting classes from 8:30 a.m. until about 2:00 p.m. It is my favorite thing to do.

I've been feeling really good and overdid it this weekend. Nothing remarkable, I thought, but I was on my feet constantly, messing with changing some furniture around, doing some cooking, lifting a pot that was way too heavy, and so on. Sunday night was a night of perspiring, leg cramps and tossing and turning. When I got out of bed Monday, was I ever sore~!! I was useless and pretty much the same Tuesday, but not so sore. But, as much as I love to paint, I knew my body needed a good rest so I emailed the instructor that I wasn't coming.

I share this as an encouragement for all of us to listen to the messages our body sends. I'm at my lowest dose of Pred ever, and I do believe my adrenals are waving at me. But there is a limit, last night I slept for 11.5 hours, zombie trips to the bathroom didn't even wake me.

I did my body a favor, and today it is thanking me....now, I must remember that there are still limits to be respected. Resting is not indulging yourself or a weakness...we need it. Feeling better than I have in years, I was surprised that I could be knocked on my butt; I wanted to share it.💞

Good advice, although I'm sorry it comes from your painful experience. Glad you're feeling better.

Leave the paint pot where it is… or get someone else to do it…. Lot of repetitive arm action and bending! Asking for trouble. 😳

Really - let someone else do the heavy work. However much you love decorating - PMR muscles don't ...

If you are going to paint....try my 'kind.' It requires sitting in a chair, a palette of paints, a few brushes, and some paper. I have no unique talent, just perseverance. You'll be surprised. No pots and no walls.💞

I so understand. I do textile work- textileartist.com a fantastic online course - a new teacher every two weeks. but you do what you want. £24 a month…..I’ve made so many friends all over the world. Now over PMR. 5 yrs I have OA knees with torn bits within the knee capsule so little walking. It feeds me. Sometimes I paint on my fabric!

I don't know if this will be of any help or if you already know about it I was told at a physiotherapy group I went to ages ago to do "Pacing"

They told us to set an alarm and do what we wanted to do for one hour only Then sit and relax for 30 mins just have a complete rest Then start with another hour and so on

I still do that and it has been a massive help

I get so much more done and don't have the aches and pains like I used to

I love gardening so when I start I check the time and stop after an hour

I used to work until I couldn't carry on but this has been fantastic

Wishing you all the best and that you enjoy your lovely painting classes

Think I need the timing the other way round. Active 30 mins rest 60 or more! Only 1 potentially heavy thing per day and nothing the next. Says she clearing space for window replacements.

That is a big help....since I lack personal discipline and usually take a break when I'm tired. If I respond to the alarm...I'll take a break before I reach that point~! Thanks💞
