PMR taper again!

All of you have helped me so much, I'm wondering if you could hold my hand for another taper. As you know, my rheumy would like me to get to 2-3mg by my next visit in October. I know it is not my doctor or me determining if I could achieve that or not--it is totally up to my PMR as to whether or not it is achievable. Tomorrow I will have taken 8mg for seventeen days. I plan on going to 21 days and then dropping 1/2 mg to 71/2 for three weeks. I am feeling fine, no muscle aches or pain and no fatigue. If some of you think it is best to drop 1/4mg to 73/4mg, i could do that also. As long as I am not having any symptoms I'll continue on this taper until I encounter some resistance from PMR.

Also, I am not worried what my rheumy thinks at all, but I'm trying to figure out the best taper for me to even get close. If it takes a year to achieve it--so be it!!!!

As you say it really depends on your PMR. Most can manage a 0.5mg drop - but not every 3 weeks, that’s a bit quick.

Why don’t you use one of the following slow tapering plans - they take about 5 weeks - then you have a week at reduced dose to make sure all okay -before you embark on next taper.

DL has said everything I would. 1/2mg. 3 weeks if you must but use a slowed taper and have a week between finishing one and starting the next. More haste - less speed.
