can you tell me the best consultant in the Glasgow are? Thinking of seeking a private consultation with a knowledgeable PMR doctor.

Most of winter I’ve been struggling with chest/virus / infection. Clear x ray in December. Stupidly I haven’t increased pred (been at 2mg for ages) No suggestion to do so from GP’s when seeing them re antibiotics for chest.

of course now feeling really crap- not too stuff- but a bit and also the general unwell / anxiety ridden feelings.

stopped SSRI after many years on it - 5 weeks ago. Tummy doing somersaults now and again-and terrible anxiety early morning . Any thoughts on way forward- loath to increase pred- partly because of the thought of going over it all with GP.

I’m aware a lot of this is m own fault- and I do too much- desperately trying to think myself cured…..

Thank you all- you are such a great support to have 💐💐💐💐

meant to add- I’m thinking some of this may be my adrenals stuttering about. The upset tummy maybe to do with SSRI absence??

The Scottish charity is more likely to be able to tell you to be honest - not sure we have many members in the Glasgow area.

But even they can only say their personal opinions.

I can’t help with your question but there is a PMR support group that meets every two months in Glasgow. We’re due to meet again in March. Maybe someone there will be able to give you advice.

Out of desperation I booked a private appointment as I was getting nowhere with the NHS. I saw Dr Sandeep Bawa at the Nuffield in Glasgow. He was very understanding and diagnosed me as having classic PMR. He made out a treatment plan which was forwarded to my GP practice and I am now self managing with the help of a very understanding GP. Good luck.
