I had a lovely surprise today, the local florist turned up at my door with a lovely bunch of tulips as a thank you for my help during the year to our village. It gives you a warm feeling inside.
My daughter's partner was asking a couple of days ago if he needed to bring his long johns!!! She, on the other hand, was just panicking she's only bringing winter clothes, But it won't be that warm up here or even for very long. But has been lovely sun and a very pretty sunset tonight.
It's been 16 days since the freeze and losing water. When it finally thawed I discovered the pump was too damaged to work properly. I also discovered that the pump fitted was the wrong sort and I have now replaced it with the correct type. Fun and games at a difficult time of year but all sorted now. You don't question what you inherited until it finally fails to deliver. Mind you, I should have known. the previous owners track record said it all.
You think too well of people!! We have taken on a house a few times that was passed on when we were finished in a far better and safer state than we got it!!!
there was so much else to sort I left the pump to struggle on. We had fields damaged by overstocking with cattle. Just mud. 30 acres of ragwort to pull, Fields of dock, thistle and nettle. No fencing to delineate fields from road. 4.5km of stone wall to repair and a 5bed farmhouse to completely gut and rebuild. On the plus side we have 100acres nestled in a beautiful landscape with half a mile of the river Greta to enjoy.
Indeed, those days are very sadly gone. However, even though they may not with us in their bodily form, they will always be with us and by our sides in spirit.
You're right cycli, but not the people on this forum. Maybe it takes a bit of pain to make us more appreciative. I really appreciate this community and feel uplifted by, and connected to, the contributors. Have a great Christmas.
