Down to 2mg of pred, and staying there for 8weeks, have sore leg or hip not sure in my PMR journey never had any problems with hips or legs, I don't think IAM flaring, hoping it will get better without uping pred.

Any advice would be helpful,
Hello, if you have a one sided dicky hip/leg it’s worth thinking back to a possible cause. Did you do anything unusual, however mundane? Did you sit for a long time such as on a long journey or a very sedentary week? New shoes that you wear a lot or doing unusual amount of walking on uneven ground can bring to light and brewing issue.
Upping your Pred might help but if you’ve done something, it won’t reverse it other than reduce inflammation. If you have a spasm or wear and tear issues, it won’t be as useful. What makes you think it isn’t a flare? What is the pain like and where exactly?
If it were me, I’d want to see someone to assess the situation like a good physio, osteopath, GP who is good with musculoskeletal function, etc.
Hi Snazzy, don't think it's a flare, because feel fine nothing else sore, sometimes I can over think and that's not good, hate to think every time I have a pain I've got to take more pred , Harry W
SnazzyD ,had to let you know about sore leg and hip, well IAM treating it as a flare, was at ,3mg and have added 5 for 10 days ,will see GP Monday didn't want to let go and inflammation get a lot worse, when I look back in the month I had got poked in the eye, covid Jag, then went a silly gallop that is walk but felt like that with my very fit daughter, forgetting my illness so think it could be flare, problem is after the 10 day wot to do if still got pain, will I go back down, just not sure what to do,thanks so much xx
Where is it? Outside of thigh, into the hip area? Could be bursitis - and as Snazzy says, needs some professional input to decide what it might be,
I had similar, went to the doctor, Bursitis. Had injection, much better.
looks like PMRPro has answered for me while I was out all day, sorry! And thanks, PMRPro! Very painful indeed, that’s what I call it!
That is being quite reticent! I recently spent a small fortune on 3 sessions of chiropractic. It does seem to have reduce the sacroiliitis and trochanteric bursitis on the right side. But I still daren't sleep on my right side. And the grinding dull pain in my back is still a feature.
Yes, it is. Guess I didn’t want to upset HarryWogan…Trochanteric Butsitis is wrecking my sleep, I can’t carry anything without pain, I can’t sleep on either side (sciatica in other side), if I sleep on my back I wake myself up with the snoring!! On my right hip the muscles are growing bone on them & causing trouble! Seems so much can be the cause around the hip & pelvic region!! The low back pain comes from that & residual car crash injuries & spinal haemangioma…to the point where I am trialling pain patches!! Main problem is only being able to have x number of steroid injections per year, as I badly need them in the base of my thumbs & both big toes. I can hardly walk due to left sprained ankle & right plantar fasciitis atm, & that’s actually superseding the bursitis. & sciatica atm! But, for HarryWogan, it could be something entirely different! Hopefully! Ttfn, S xx
Like idea of shot for bursitis. Think I will try it, too.
