This can be a side effect of Prednisalone and one that has prompted me to pay for thorough eye examinations on a regular basis, at least every 6 months, with my particular concern being GCA then cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, retinal detachment and so on. I am fortunate in that I live near a very well equipped Optician who keeps slides of the health of my eyes on-going. I think it is an investment worth making. With PMR/GCA we can be prone to eye issues such as these. However, we can just get blurring, especially if our eyes are tired, as a Pred side effect.I have preservative free eyedrops for dry eyes that helps and wipes for Blepharitis that I am prone to. I also have the beginnings of cataracts that it is too soon to treat.

thanks sheffield Jane

from what you say it could possibly be tired eyes as I only get 4 or 5 hrs sleep

a night, I live in a small country town with one optician who only tests for glasses but will

try him anyway.

Thanks again for your reply

Hi and welcome.

As suggested could be a variety of reason, but do get it checked. If it’s dry eye etc it can be helped by drops, wipes and/or masks [warmed in microwave]. All available online.

Unfortunately sleep is affected early days, but for most does improve as you reduce medication.

..as you are new, might be worth look at this for general info - and then at FAQs when you feel up to it -

I'm concerned by you saying yout PMR is causing vision problems - it shouldn't really, if it does, then more investigation is required in case LVV or GCA are present.

I’ve had blurred vision on and off for the 4 years I’ve been taking Pred. Mainly just in my left eye. I have regular eye checks and I have been told there is nothing amiss.

Might be an idea to get your blood sugar checked, One of the symptons of high blood sugar is blurred vision and steroid-induced diabetes is a known side effect of taking pred.

I had blurred vision in L.eye after taking prednisolone for GCA 1 year into treatment. Was sent to eye hospital, who performed Laser op. and I can see without glasses at age 90 !! Have stopped taking pred…18months ago and hope GCA will never return again. All the best on your journey

My retina specialist said I have Central Serous Retinopathy caused by the prednisone. I get checked every six months and my prescription changes based on the inflammation. I hope you can get a good Dr. to sort it out for you.

I am currently on 8mg prednisone and still having blurred vision every day!Had left eye cataract surgery in Sept but with the constant blurry vision which kicks in around noon time, I’m not really appreciating the fact that I can see better out of my left eye yet. Does anyone know when the blurriness will subside? I’m tapering 1 mg every 30 days.

If you want an answer to this then you need to put up a new post, few will see it here. Have you asked the eye team about the blurriness? It does suggest that it can take 6 to 8 weeks for blurriness to resolve post surgery but there is another common post-surgery comlication called posterior capsular opacification which is due to cells growing across the new lens and is dealt with very simply by lasers

One of the side effects of prednisone is developing cataracts. After one year on prednisone I just had cataract surgery. It’s a quick and easy procedure and after 24 hours I could read without glasses for the first time since the 1st grade.
