What are your symptoms and diagnosis. I have difficulty understanding why a substance use for opiod and alcohol dependence is being used for PMR or GCA.

It's effect on dopamine and consequently on inflammation.

There are a few people on the forums who have been put on LDN and some of them find it works in some way. One lady is in Scandinavia and was put on it by her GP but I don't know how it is going.

Megams on this forum has posted these

about her experience with LDN.

I discussed it with Dr Sarah Mackie and she is sceptical - but there are people for whom it has resulted in a reduction in pred dose.

If it does result in improved symptom management - does that not suggest it may be worth a try if you can access it. It would have to be privately in the UK I imagine.

Thank you PMRpro - yes one would have to get a GP to prescribe it and there is a compounding pharmacy in Scotkand that makes it.

I have asked about it and from the reaction you would think I was saying a four letter word. I find that hard to understand and my take is that you would have to go to an interventionist because it is not in their list of approved medications.

Hi 30048 - Yes J have thought about seeing a functional practitioner - but that is also a medical doctor. So expensive though.

I tried it and it made my pain worse. Course I'm not a typical patient but I've noticed it seems to help my friends who have rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune conditions. So it can't really hurt anything to try it. But don't get your hopes up
