Body temperature

Been taking my temperature this week and surprised how low it is - varies from 35.2 to 35.8 but did reach 36.3 one day. Feel confident my Levothyroxine dose is right but wondering if low body temperature is normal with our condition or something else is causing it ?

I never take my temperature as I haven’t a thermometer, but I did notice during Covid when my temperature was being checked that it was always in the 35 degree area. I think some of us are just more cold blooded than others! If it drops any lower I would start to worry.

That really is fairly normal for an oral temp in older adults and is lowest in the morning.. Mine ranges about 35.6. Under 35C is where you need to worry and older adults are a risk of developing hypothermia more easily because they tend to run "cooler" anyway.

Thanks PMRpro. Plan to monitor but as these were evening readings and recently doubled my progesterone dose they could be lower still as I’m well insulated too ! At least it provides a baseline to demonstrate the mild fever if it returns. Slowed down my steroid tapering and have managed to come down to 15mg now which feels like a major achievement after 6 months of doing as the doctor says

Hi,

my doctor told me that everybody’s Temperature is different from the standard 37.8 and that doctors and hospital staff shouldn’t just presume they are the same. For me my normal temperature is 35.6 so I know that anything above that is abnormal

I am also a lizard! The main thing is to be aware of it so that you know when you have a raised temperature for you, even when it is apparently 'normal'.
