I just got my blood work in and all reads are heading down.I ve been on 8 mgs for 5 weeks and iam doing ok.What I want to ask us has anyone had a lower creatinine read then the month previous.Not red flagged but was 58.A month ago 78.The EGFR was higher this time.Just didn't know if I should be concerned?

No - the creatinine being lower is a good thing, the eGFR being higher is also a good thing, and in fact if the creatinine is lower, that will put the eGFR up.

Your creatinine level can be higher if you have eaten a lot of meat or other protein, of if you haven't been drinking as much and are a bit dehydrated, The eGFR is a measure of how well your kidneys are clearing the protein waste creatinine from you body so if the creatinine is high, the kidneys aren't working as well as they should. Does that all make sense?

Yes it does.Thank you.You re so smart PMRpro.I was concerned because iam getting a CT scan in Nov.The specialist doesn't think it's cancer in my lung.Which is great.Wasnt sure if I was getting dye.Didnt want my kidneys to struggle.

Been my world most of my life - worked in the labs, did physiology, translated medical texts. It sticks. Don't ask me to discuss makeup or fashion though!
