Hi, my doctor recently gave me 1mg tablets that were enteric coated (my previous prescriptions have always been normal ones) I’m currently on 1.5 a day so I cut a normal one in half & take with one of the coated ones. I’ve also reduced my Lanzoprazole to 15mg from 30. The only problem I seem to be getting is an increase in painful windy stomach! Is this a result of the change in doses or just me being windy!? I’ve always been prone to bouts of it, but they are small but regular at the moment!

Thanks-))

It COULD be the fillers/coating of the coated pred disagreeing with you. Or it could be the change in dose of the lansoprazole. Or are you eating something different being as it is autumn?

No, autumn hasn’t hit Spain yet -)) but I think I may have been eating out too much on my travels! I’m back home now so I’m hoping it improves with my normal routine again! Thank you.

Relatively speaking it has hit Italy - definite difference and the leaves are curling. Still far warmer than usual though. And here goes by date - autumn fashions in upper 30s to low 30s!!!

Yes, similar here…cooler evenings but still hot daytime…& little or no rain!🥴

Been a bit mixed this week - thunderstorms on Tuesday and the cloud is hanging on in the mountains. Rather better further south out of the mountains.

Umbria & Tuscany we’re still upper 30s when we left on Thursday, & had been that way the whole fortnight we were in Italy. Beautiful sun no clouds weather. But in the last four days leaves were dropping from the trees in our garden, & turning colour. It was the only noticeable autumn change, but we took off in thunderstorms, & only just avoided (literally…took a quite different route!) a very bad storm on the roads that people were talking about on the plane! Bumpy take off had some people crying out in fear, gasping etc. S x

Until Tuesday it was still 30C in the low valleys - we are a lot higher so not usually quite as hot but we were 29/30 until the thunderstorm but mornings were different.

We were surprised, hotter than we thought it would be, but we were very happy..David stopped coughing within 36 hours & my sciatica went away!! We reached 40 one day, but mainly around 35 in the shade. It’s wonderful, though, nice & cool in the car, then all those wonderful shady hilltop towns to walk around…bliss! Not like sightseeing in the heat usually is. Lots of hairpin bends, but I treated my self to an automatic geared hire car this time, so it was easier! Wonderful to be back amongst the warm & friendly Italian people, they’re so funny, & happy! Perhaps Brits would be happier with more sunshine?? Take care, S xx PS oh, & the gelato…..to die for!

It's been 4 or 5 degrees warmer than it should be for a lot of the summer with intermissions where it went to under the right temp. You were there during the shenanigans in the eastern Med so you probably got some breeze.

Yes, we did! And lovely it was, too! We had 3 windy evenings, but it was blissful as it was so hot. Not so windy as to cause anydamage, but we took the large umbrellas down at night on the patio for 2 evenings & took in the cushions (bit like being at home)!

It’s been five years wait for us, (due to Covid, then my health problems) & we normally go every year…we missed it so much, too. Hope you get to visit again!

if you just dropped from 30 mg Lanzoprazole to 15mg, then I I think that is the cause. I think it’s best to taper to new dose by taking new dose every other day then taking for two days etc and taking 30 in between until you have totally changed to 15. My experience is that quick reduction in dose or stopping all together when you have been on it some time causes bad reaction. Probably best to try and stick it out now but remember for when you stop altogether, very slow.

Thank you! I’ll try that!

I know I can't tolerate any gastro resistant prednisolone. I think it's the ingredients in the enteric coatings. There are substantially far more in the GR compared to the normal. Google it and you'll see. Also they take longer to get into your system, about 4-5 hours compared to 1-2 hours with the normal ones so you may want to consider the time you take them. If you cut the GR tablets they are no long gastro resistant either.

Thanks for that…I did wonder as I had no trouble before!
