Tapering and adrenal side effects?

Has anyone struggled with diarrhea most days when tapering. Sort of started about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I’m currently at 6 mg with a split dose at 5 mg in the morning and 1 mg in the evening. Is this one of the signs of adrenal insufficiency, by chance? I stopped taking Prilosec since some people have posted issues with that. Yogurt has worked fine with any stomach issues. Also stopped magnesium. So just looking for some reasons! Thanks so much for any insights!

As I said on the other query - do please speak to your PCP as changes in bowel habit that last more than a few days should be investigated to rule out more nasty causes. It isn't always pred or lack of pred!

Have replied to your question on other post, so have replicated here for completeness -

It can be an issue for some - and this is listed as a symptom of adrenal insufficiency-

Nausea, diarrhoea or vomiting (gastrointestinal symptoms).

as pmrpro says, you must get it checked out. You can also use over the counter loperamide (imodium) to try the stabilize the situation. But be in touch with your GP . Good luck!

Yes I have it most mornings. I gave up red wine, it got better then came back. I stopped taking magnesium, same effect. I'm on 2.5mg. GP has tested for cancer and coeliac, both negative. She said I'll just have to put up with it. It makes going out in the mornings rather difficult though! Imodium does help, but I then get constipated.

Are you on a PPI? They can have some dire effects and not always right from the start but can develop after some time.

Yes I am. GP insisted. I have to be on it while on pred.

It may not be helping the situation! There are alternatives,

That's exactly what happened to me with Lansoprazole, after a few months the GI problems started. Got better on Famotidine but never back to how I was pre PMR and the medication

Thank you for your response! Just keeping track of any changes…no other symptoms but will check with my internal medicine physician this week.
