How long have you been diagnosed and what medication have you been given? What dose of pred are you on?
When I was diagnosed with a/f the medications took effect fairly quickly as I remember. I had a return of severe episodes after my bivalent Covid jab last year but the cardiologist was of the opinion the antiarrythmic I was on had stopped working which it commonly does after about 5 or 6 years and I'd been on it 10! I was switched to a different one and it took effect within 2 days. I am awaiting an ablation procedure.
If it is more than a week or so, I think you need to speak to your doctor as it may beed adjusting. My medication was adjusted while I was still in hospital - but they are very particular about a/f here. The most important medication is the anticoagulant but it doesn't affect the a/f itself, just reduces the risk of clots causing a stroke. My husband had permanent a/f and no medication achieved much otherwise.
What did the doctors say about the pred? Are they blaming it for your a/f or just age? My a/f is most likely due to the autoimmune part of PMR.
Hello, best consult your GP soon, especially if you are breathless doing nothing or on little activity. Can sometimes take a while to get medication right for this, methinks.
