I have been following the 5 week taper method for the last 3 months. What happens when you get to 1/2 mg every day do I just stop.

Best not to -you may be surprised how much 1/2mg is helping.

Just taper again using zero as your new dose…

..and good luck

I would do another taper using zero as the new dose. I might even slow it even further!

Just be careful- I was at the half mg , when I tripped on a trailing bed cover and broke my leg. I had to increase the dose again , and just as I was getting there , noticed a blurred left eye. On visiting my Optician , a scan proved that I had a clot behind that eye and I now have to see a consultant 150 miles away for treatment with needles to remove the clot. I , no doubt, will have to up my dose again. It’s just bad luck, but I feel as if I’ll never reach that zero. I think that you will be more fortunate than I’ve been. I can’t believe the timing of these events. I think next time I’ll stay at 1mg. !! Best wishes.

I’m tapering by 1/4 every 5w. Currently half way 3/4 to 1/2mg taper and will continue that way. 1/4 to 0mg will be exactly the same. Why rush on such a low dose, that’s what I think.

How do you manage to cut your tablets into quarters please.

hi I use a toenail cutter, (the type with two handles, and is cleaned well). It has slightly curved blades but straight enough in sections to deal with a 1mg tablet.

The members here who read every post (as I do) must get bored with my replies, as I said something similar yesterday. My apologies to them.

I think it best to go slowly once you get to 1mg. I was at 1mg 18 months ago and on the advice of my doctor stopped the pred! bad flare was the result. I am now back to 1mg and will continue the DSNS taper down through to zero in .25mg stages. I don't think it matters if the tablets are not evenly broken into quarters as long as the total continues, it will balance out. Pill cutters are best but at these tiny amounts you will not get precise cuts and will have some crumbs to add to your daily input.
