Appointment update

Just got home from my appointment that I was dreading with my Rheumatologist. It was in a brand new building down at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Very Swanky!

I needn’t can’t worried so much as the Rheumatologist was in a good mood and actually listened to me. The Humira for my Ankylosing Spondylitis is to be re-instated, which is good. He doesn’t believe it well do much for my PMR, however, he gave me a leaflet for Tocilizumab…. Interesting!

That looks promising….let’s hope it can be authorised.

There has been some work using it in AS - very mixed results it seems bit possibly useful if patients don't respond well to Humira.

hi, I have several autoimmune conditions including neuro sjogrens , RA and lupus. Tocilizumab has helped massively with my RA though it took a few weeks. It’s also helped with my other conditions too. It takes a bit of time to get NHS funding but I was lucky and have a good rheumatologist-worth persevering as has been life changing for me. Hope this helps.
