Was scheduled t o reduce my prednisone from 22.5 to 20 mg on June 27 but stayed at 22.5 as general opinion seemed that dropping 2.5 every 2 weeks may be too rapidly. Feeling good up t o yesterday with minor leg pain that would wear off in about an hour after getting up and taking my prednisone. On my feet alot yesterday and did some stumping and minor lifting. Today is horrible and mainly just in the legs. Is this my fault and will the flare-up stop again is I take it easy for awhile.

Pmr flare-up mainly just in legs
Many of us have come to grief when we’ve set about a job because we’ve felt capable. A day or two later the muscles scream because PMR and Pred make muscles more prone to strain which can be delayed. I used to get it on day 2 after, so I would feel smug on day 1. It would then take a few days to a week to subside with a peak at 48 hours.
I'd say you induced that by overdoing things! If you are going to do that sort of thing, take several days to build it up with a rest day between. Sometimes you will get away with it by doing 10 mins at a time and good rest between - but sometimes not even that works.
As already mentioned you have probably overdone the work/exercise bit. I managed a drop from 30mg to 25mg after a week and then 25mg to 20mg in a week but from there downwards I used a modified DL taper, inititialy over seven weeks and then five weeks. The general rule is don't drop by more than 10% at a time. However, these are only the guidelines you aim for and if you need to stay longer at a level, then it is worth doing so. You listen to your body, find what works for you and gives you quality of life and that may well be different to others.
