swollen lips?
Hi Bedwell,
I've been on pred for 4yrs and never personally experienced swollen lips as a side effect of the medication.
However, my lips have become much more sensitive to things like hot drinks, spicy foods, the sun, etc, and will burn/scald much more easily.
In fact, many people find that all their skin becomes more fragile and sensitive whilst on steroids.
Have you washed your bed linen in something different......could it be an allergic reaction?
I think if it persists, the sensible thing to do would be to speak to a medical practitioner.
They might have been drier but not swollen (and that might be due to long cold winters anyway). Good luck with finding a solution.
Swollen lips—one thing I have not experienced. Hope you can solve this mystery.
I’m only 3 months into Prednisolone but my mouth is always so dry and worse through the night, even though I drink so much water. That makes my lips feel swollen but really they are just dry. Constantly applying lipsalve.
yes my mouth gets very dry .. but this swelling is inside the mouth. .. really the inside of the lips swell right up.. very weird. !!! Manly when I wake in the morning I notice it. Everything will change when I’m off the pred?!?!? Really!?! And when will that be. ? Reducing from 5 to 4 or maybe 4.5 in 2 weeks time? Onwards!!!
Hi
I went through a period of waking with one side of my lip swollen like I had been bitten by something in the night.I used to keep fruit out and I believe the cause was some type of fruit fly biting me- it has settled since I banished fruit 🍎 being on view- maybe too as our immune systems are overreacting that could be implicated
Hi Bedwell. it maybe something you are taking. I was researching licorice as a possible heb to support my adrenals and came across various articles on the web - many which were way beyond my tiny scientific mind. I came across this article which coincidentally mentions the swelling of lips/face in the side effects section of its interaction with steroid ue. It may well not be licorice that is causing the effect but it maybe worth following the allergic reaction to something else route.
Shoudn't be taking liquorice with steroids, this from the FAQs -
