six to seven years suffering from pmr and gca currently on 10 mgs Prednisolone.
I have been suffering for some time with foot spasms about every 30 seconds when I go to bed preventing me sleeping. Premipexole for restless legs does not work. The only way get some sleep is two or three large scotches between 8.30 and eleven oclock which knocks me out. I'm fond of scotch so this is quite pleasant but trouble is this is becoming very expensive when keeping the house warm is through the roof.
Anybody got any ideas for solving my problem without the expense

Doesn’t sound nice at all. Have you had restless legs since Pred or before Pred? Have they tried Amitryptyline if your current med doesn’t work? I used to get irritated muscles/cramps when I was low in potassium or magnesium when on Pred. How was restless legs and the cause diagnosed?
I get bad cramps sometimes in my feet when I am in bed. It's usually because I am out of my magnesium tablets and haven't got around to replacing them. I buy my magnesium tablets from Boots the Chemist normally and take the recommended dose before I go to bed. Hope this is helpful!
As PmrPro mentioned magnesium could be the issue and please check your water intake. At any age the muscles can also spasm due to dehydration. Water little and often throughout the day....
I had these continually and was low on Vitamin D and Magnesium. I solved it by taking a calcium/mag/.vitamin /d supplement before bed and I never go to bed without my Magic Bag - 2 minutes in Microwave and in to the bed it goes 🙂
