Sudden pain and exhaustion

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. Sometimes just after I have had my breakfast and my Prednisolone I experience sudden cramping pain in my arms and legs and a feeling of exhaustion and being hardly unable to keep my eyes open. It lasts for about an hour and sometimes I have just fallen asleep for a while. I am on 7.5 mg Prednisolone and have been for about 2 months. If I lower to 7mg my pain increases.

How long "just after my pred"? Anything else? Palpitations for example?

actually today it was about 5 minutes after eating my breakfast and before I took my Pred but can be just a few minutes after.

Then more likely to be associated with a reaction to eating. I think you need to speak to the GP - even if it seems inconsequential

What do you eat for breakfast?

I wonder if this is connected with your Adrenal system? I would definitely report it to your doctor and perhaps seek an Endocrinologist referral, if you feel that more expertise is required. I have experienced the sudden “drugged” exhausted feeling but not the sudden pain. This does need to be investigated by a Rheumatologist at least.

Thank you. I was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago but have never been referred by my GP to a Rheumatologist. Have decided now to see one privately as feel I need better advice and as NHS waiting list is 6 moths + I have decided to see one privately and am waiting for a referral letter from my GP. I have mentioned this to my GP but didn’t get an explanation for it. I have been feeling very tired lately so I wonder if it’s Adrenal related.

normally tea, boiled egg and granary toast. Today because we had visitors stay overnight it was a “full English”.

Could be your adrenal glands starting to wake up, particularly the exhaustion. Of course it could be something else.

Yes I have this after breakfast and often have to lie down. Potassium helps. Maybe a blood test. ?

Try having Greek yogurt with your tablets, I find they are more palatable with some fresh fruit and yogurt.

hi. 7.5 mg isn’t too high a dose really. Not sure what could be the cause of your pain and tiredness. Sorry. I haven’t experienced this type of reaction. Maybe others on the site could be more helpful Hope you get some answers

yes I do. I am on 1.5 and fall asleep around 9am. If I am doing something I fight to keep my eyes open. Usually give in tho. 🥱

Hi, I literally conk out after my bowl of bran flakes every morning (11ish). I take my meds at 8am, I get a very groggy feeling, very heavy eyes and am unable to fight it, so I give in as I don't have anything planned and it is the only time I get complete pain relief. Sometimes I sleep for an hour sometimes more, although 3 to 4 hours did make me wonder whether I should mention it to the doc. I don't suffer pain or cramp though.
