Some people need more for longer. I have been at above 15mg for the last 3 years - stress and my form of PMR to blame. I've had symptoms for 18 years now, been on pred for 13 years. But it doesn't usually stop me doing things, I comfort myself with the thought there are far worse things to have.
You need to look at how you are living - are you trying to do too much? Is your diet poor? Are you under a lot of stress? All sorts of things have an effect and all together that can be considerable.
But self-help has a lot of effect - not least to make you feel happier when you feel a bit better.
