After another call to the rheumatology nurses, I had no option but to go to A& E. 17 hours later I had been diagnosed as having a flare and ESR level raised from when it was taken last Friday. Back up to 30 mg of pred and already feel much better, but more importantly a slow taper now. I would like to thank the community for your support and guidance.

Good outcome despite the wait! I did warn you to take a good book! Maybe it should have been a sleeping bag
Hope it all settles down now. I do wish they wouldn't go into the tapering lark like the proverbial bulls in china shops - it isn't fair on the patients.

Good, but shouldn’t have been given run around by Rheumy nurse initially.
Glad to hear on more sensible taper - fingers crossed it works you,, and it’s taken on board by said nurse..
Hi,
Glad to hear you’re feeling better. What a lot of pfaff to get there. Just proves the value of a slow taper.
Best wishes
Paddy
Good you're feeling better. How did you manage to get two blood tests so quickly btw? Also I think it would be worth querying with your consultant why you couldn't be advised by another rheumy when they were absent, rather than the A&E route. You are under their care after all.
Ah, thanks.
