Not sure I've heard anyone with anything as direct as that - but when they will insist on handing out all this stuff "just in case" and all at once they are asking for trouble! If they started with pred, which is indispensable, and added other things one at a time they would know which was causing what!

Lansoprazole can cause a severe allergic reaction and so can alendronic acid. So you now have a great reason not to take 2 of the drugs we object to most!!

thanks for reply. Is it normal to be put on all this when diagnosed with GCA. My local hospital diagnosed me. A & E told me to stop everything except prednisolone last weekend when I went to them. It’s getting much worse don’t know how to put up with itching, stinging etc covering my whole body. Years ago I nearly died with liver failure due to drug reaction, but they still gave me all this stuff

Yes - because they believe they "protect" you from the evil influence of steroids such as stomach irritation and loss of bone density. I've been on pred for over 13 years - never suffered either problem despite never taking either a PPI or AA.

What sort of prednisolone are you on? Plain white pred or coloured enteric coated pred? They could try a different brand of the white pred - sometimes it is the fillers in a tablet that cause reactions. With the e/c pred it is the colouring - that colour coating can be washed off without changing the e/c hard coating.

Drug induced urticaria can take a while to subside - urticaria at all can last a while. I think it was Kendrew developed urticaria sometime back - maybe she has a suggestion.

yes, Lanzaprozole caused me severe diarrea. I only realised what was causing it after reading a post on this forum. This was after a colonoscopy and tests for diabetes. After reading further posts I am not taking any alternative. Thank goodness for this forum.
