Fingers Like Claws?

I have been waking up recently with the middle fingers on my right hand (I am right handed) like claws. It takes a while to be able to straighten them. The left hand is affected but not as badly. I assume this is not related to PMR ( we can't blame it on everything!) I have Googled it and could only get issues with the neck or carpel tunnel syndrome which I am sure it is not.

Any thoughts anyone?

Could it be the start of Dupuytrens?

Try looking up Stenosing Tenosynovitis - trigger finger. It sounds like this could have developed.

I used to get that a lot. I do hand flattening exercises (pressing hand down on flat surface) and always try to sleep with fingers straight. Took a while but it worked!

As PMRPro says it could be Dupuytrens. I had trigger thumb but that was just in one digit and my thumb used to click into place. I could not move it slowly. It just had two positions, bent or straight!

Have you tried taking a Magnesium supplement at night if not contraindicated? Shortly after starting prednisone for PMR I suffered with stiff and sore wrists upon awakening and 2 days after taking Magnesium my wrists were back to normal.

I have quite severe, painful cramp in my feet, legs and hands. I find only two things help: drinking plenty of water, and taking a magnesium supplement. Be aware, though, that magnesium, like anything, can have side effects, so just monitor things if you take it.

All the best xx
