What is the difference between PMR and polymyositis

I'm still waiting on the results of my inflammation markers. My ETS (sed rate) is 49 which is definitely high but certainly not the highest it's been. I don't know what my CRP is yet.

So I accidentally came across the disease polymyositis. After reading about it (Good Ole Google) I don't see how one can differentiate between it and PMR as far as symptoms go. Am I missing something?

I think it sounds worse... and hits younger people .. Polymyositis vs. polymyalgia rheumaticaPolymyositis is an inflammatory, destructive, autoimmune muscle disease, usually with weakness but unusually with pain. Polymyalgia rheumatica is an inflammatory disease of muscle that always causes symmetrically painful muscles. Polymyalgia rheumatica is not destructive to muscles.

The main difference is, as mentioned, muscle deterioration. PMR doesn’t have that.
