Low oxygen can point towards Covid.
Have you escaped the hospital?
Yer Doctor from upstairs ward I was supposed to be going on advised me to go home as he could do all the tests in outpatient So I agreed as it was coming up to weekend
And nowt happens then
He says he has detected a heart murmur
Which could be a leaky valve.
Which would explain my oxygen levels been so low π±π€·
My O2 became low after the flu shot in Sept over 2 weeks: never smoked, do not have COPD but asthma and some lung restriction from scoliosis ans multiple surgeries. Wen to hospital in Oct given high steroid doses for weeks now back to slow taper. I researched the effect of prednisone/ steroids on muscle in the medical literature.
The take was that prednisone/ steroids cause muscle weakness in breathing muscles and the diaphragm. The article noted that this could be a significant problem in those with preexisting pulmonary issues.
I was tested for numerous viruses, had Ct scan with dye and multiple blood tests.
I am now on O2 24/7 . My challenge is how to strengthen these muscles while on 10.5 mgm prednisone and tapering. Waiting for a slot at pulmonary rehab.
Have they tested your Aortic Artery - a scan usually. I am just thinking about your GCA symptoms. The Aortic Artery can be affected. It was amongst the cardiac tests I was given when I was experiencing breathlessness - real oxygen starvation. I had to sleep propped up. Nothing major was found, just dilation in the ascending aortic artery, which apparently you get with age. Like all my weird symptoms it kind of passed. Nothing of note found. Poor you! You are really having your turn arenβt you? X
Today been to doctors a different one this time she said do I get pain in my temples I said quite a lot sometimes very painful.I said but know one seams interested
Ignoring my remark rang up the Rumatoligist that I am due to see in a good few weeks time. Heβs squeezed me in tomorrow. Doctor said to him shall I increase the dose
π so now up to 40 a day thatβs the good news.
Bad news he will give me the how many fingers test π€·π½ββοΈπ΅βπ« and say your fine .weβve all been there hey π΅βπ«
But on a good note I have a sneaky feeling it will cure my out of breath.
I was all set to go to Scarborough tomorrow, never mind may go after appointment
Thinking about it he could have told doctor to do the finger test.

Did more pred fix it Jane
It just stopped being the main symptom and something else took over. I donβt know what caused it or what made it go away. Anxiety made mine worse.Well done you for getting the doctor to take you seriously and move your Rheumatologist appointment to the next day. Pity about Scarborough, it is such a beautiful day, mind you it is going to be lovely all week. I hope you get to go !
Double vision can be a symptom. Maybe the finger test was for that?
I hope it does cure the breathlessness. I find that symptom frightening. I have a fan in my room and a small humidifier, just in case. ππππππ
Very interesting Jane I have an appointment On the 24th of July for the heart scan
I get so breathless , im Al write while im doing nothing. Canβt seam to get GCA diagnosed. It seams as long as you can count fingers your fine π€· i do get a lot of pain in temple area but no oneβs bothered about that only me π₯Ή
