Thanks for all the very helpful information in posts about sick Day rules. I've been on Pred since 2015 and have reduced to 7.5 mg. This may seem like a pedantic point but Coffeebeans post has the most up to date official NHS info about the issue of Adrenal Insufficiency .....October 2020, as opposed to April 2020. Interesting that Vasculitis UK has it's name to this. As it happens I'm feeling grotty today. Haven't tested positive to Covid 19 (yet) but similar symptoms. Am going to try and have a chat with my specialist Rheumatology nurse in the morning.... though I bet she won't have seen this advice but just as well to ask about the dangers of not staying alert to Adrenal insufficiency. We have a Rheumatology Helpline in Worcs and she is monitoring my bloods now that I'm on Leflunomide which seems to be working for me. They think that my PMR may have morphed into RA, because of my swelling knee. Anyone else had this diagnosis? Take care everyone.

Sick Day rules and Adrenal Insufficiency
Just as one swallow doesn't make a summer - one swollen joint doesn't turn PMR into RA. Especially since you can have swollen knees with PMR! I'd want a bit more evidence myself.
However, LORA (late onset RA) can and does present almost identically to PMR and that is well known. Unfortunately, there is absolutely no way of distinguishing between the two at onset in most cases. Some patients show up by not responding to a moderate dose of pred or not responding as quickly as expected and then getting stuck at a relatively high dose.
Hi Roltuba

If you look carefully l added the Post in April 2020 when the first information was made available to us.
However, the way l add the links ensures they are always the most updated Version when they are opened - this is one of the reasons l suggest Members follow the Post to ensure they do get the most updated information.
If you look carefully, the Actual Link opens up with the October 2020 Version.
We do our very best to keep all this information as up to date as possible & appreciate Members highlighting anything that maybe more current.
Thank You

I had a swollen knee and a swollen elbow during the first 6 months of pmr. They were very painful but went down over a couple of weeks and never came back. Mystery.
