Geographic tongue
Every time I go to my new dentist he says I have this. Nothing to worry about, nothing you can do, does no harm.👍
Oh! It is another of my weird things that never make it to the top of “my to discuss list“ with the doctor. I see from PMRPro’s link that it is associated with Psoriasis that I do have. I have a tongue scraper that I use and my mouth gets very dry and I get thirsty frequently. I have wondered if it is another little assembly of symptoms for the doctor. She’ll love that, but one will be the key someday.
My naturopath said that it was caused by a mineral deficiency. I started taking a mega mineral packet from the health food store, and my tongue became more normal looking. That was 10 years ago, and I took the minerals for about six years. Tongue looks more normal now, but would start up again if it was looking bad again. I’m in the US and never before did a GP or dentist remark on it.
I have it, not a big deal. I get patches or areas on my tongue that are sensitive to acids like orange juice. Comes and goes. You can for sure feel it when an "outbreak" occurs but not much to do about it, just live with it.
