It’s best not guess in advance what it might be - Rheumy is doing the right thing. Have you had a Urine Test done to rule in or out a Kidney Infection or a UTI?
I’ve had/had lower back/flank area & lots of Tests, Scans & X-rays but nothing gets to the cause of it, l don’t have swollen ankles though.
Good Luck & let us know how you get on 🍀

Did you mean to post this on the Vasculitus forum, this one is for PMR and GCA -and it doesn’t look from your profile that you have either.
Do you realise this is the PMRGCAuk forum - not NRAS or Vasculitis? Not that you aren't welcome but I notice that is where you have been posting before.
Sorry, sorry, sorry(Sneaks out back door until i get the right badge/diagnosis)
As you were 👍
Pleasure to 'meet' you, Binty1. Hope you get some answers to what is happening, no matter where you get them from. Your 'As you were' makes me think that you were in the armed forces and standing to attention! It made me a smile. Take care. 🌼
Good morning Knip nice to meet you too. Yep, answers will arrive in time no doubt Rheumy says she is determined to get to the bottom of it! 🤷🏼♀️
A diagnosis is not all important to me tbh. Lots of illnesses have similar symtoms, especially auto immune and no two people are the same, regardless of the name on your badge.
My illness is mine, my pain is mine and no cure auto immune anyways…just gotta manage it in our own personal way 😉
Thank you for responding and I hope today, for you, is a good one 🌸xx
No apology needed at all - just we really aren't likely to be much use to you except as a sounding board. It seems to happen every so often - HU decides totally arbitrarily where it will file your post! Which isn't always helpful!
You obviously have the same view as me - a/i is a personalised disorder, I have PMRpro syndrome, you have Binty1 syndrome. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the right answer ...
